Geneva Declaration of the Rights of the Child of 1924, adopted Sept. 26, 1924, League of Nations O.J. Spec. Supp. 21, at 43 (1924)

Supplementary Convention on the Abolition of Slavery, the Slave Trade, and Institutions and Practices Similar to Slavery, 226 U.N.T.S. 3, entered into force April 30, 1957

Protocol amending the Slavery Convention, 182 U.N.T.S. 51, entered into force December 7, 1953

Declaration of the Rights of the Child - Proclaimed by General Assembly resolution 1386(XIV) of 20 November 1959

United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child - Adopted and opened for signature, ratification and accession by General Assembly resolution 44/25 of 20 November 1989, entry into force 2 September 1990, in accordance with article 49

Two Optional Protocols were adopted by the United Nations General Assembly on 25 May 2000 - Providing legal protection for children against the worst forms of exploitation:

i. Optional Protocol to the Convention on the Rights of the Child on the sale of children, child prostitution and child pornography - Adopted and opened for signature, ratification and accession by General Assembly resolution A/RES/54/263 of 25 May 2000 entered into force on 18 January 2002


ii. Optional Protocol to the Convention on the Rights of the Child on the involvement of children in armed conflict - Adopted and opened for signature, ratification and accession by General Assembly resolution A/RES/54/263 of 25 May 2000 entry into force 12 February 2002
